The gold price in US dollars has set four historic all-time highs during the period shown on this gold chart. The first high was reached in December 1974 with a price of 193 US dollars. The second high was in January 1980 at around 835 US dollars per ounce of gold. In September of 2011the third high was set with a price of around 1,900 US dollars. The most recent all-time high, recorded in August 2020, was at 2,063 US dollars per ounce of gold.
